There are several methods to measure ring size. Below is a list of three most commonly used methods.
To avoid mistakes, you may want to try different methods and compare the results.
1. Use a tape measurer and measure the inner circumference of your ring. If the circumference is 56mm, this corresponds to a size 56.
2. Take a piece of string and tie it loosely around the finger you want to measure. Then you measure the length of the string, which corresponds to your size. If the string for instance is 56 mm long, this would correspond to a size 56.
3. Go to a jewellery store and have your size measured.
Measuring Ringsizes When measuring your ring size it is important that you pay attention to whether your fingers are hot or cold and to the width of the ring.
Hot/cold fingers: It is important when measuring ring sizes that you feel that your fingers are not swollen or cold. If you measure your ring size when you have cold fingers, you risk that the ring is too small and vice versa.
Ring Width: The width of the ring measurer and the width of the ring should match. If you use a 3 mm wide ring measurer and the ring is 5 mm wide, the ring size which you would actually need should typically be a half to a whole number larger than if the ring had also been 3mm wide.
